Helping Xavier

A Prayer Child Foundation Story

Xavier Waldow-Walker - 3 Months Old

When Xavier was born, he seemed to be perfectly healthy and happy. Less than one hour after his birth, a nurse noticed that his head was larger than normal and he was rushed to have it examined. Ultrasounds revealed that Xavier had a blood clot on his brain.

He was immediately transported to Loma Linda University Children's Hospital for further treatment. When he was six days old he had a Ventricular Access Device inserted into his brain. Over the next two weeks, fluid was drained from his little head six times. Xavier now has to be monitored closely to make sure that fluid build-up does not occur again. He also needs physical therapy several times a week because of the lack of and over-toned muscles throughout his body caused by a stroke. The closest physical therapist is 100 miles away from Xavier’s home. On top of the medical expenses associated with this treatment, his family also needs to cover the cost of food, gas and lodging for these trips.

A $1,000 gift was given to Xavier’s family on behalf of the Prayer Child Foundation. With this money, their family was able to help cover the expenses associated with Xavier’s physical therapy treatments.

You can help children like Xavier by sharing the hope the Prayer Child Foundation can bring. We invite you to visit www.prayerchild.org to learn how you can donate or get involved. Together, we are making a difference!
